These 2 stars of the Big Dipper (sometimes called “horse and rider”) form a naked eye double star that were both very important in ancient history. The ability to perceive the separation of these two stars, was considered a measure of good vision and was, in fact, an important “sight test” necessary to be a member of the Imperial Guard of the Arabic Emperor.
I took this story and 2016 according to the theme of the Art in the Woods, “the circus” I created a little story where Alcor speaks with the listener who picks up the phone and asks them to look up to the installation and find him...
LISTEN TO THE STORY OF ALCOR
“I’M THE SECOND STAR(S) FROM THE LEFT...”
