Of the 48 Ptolemaic constellations accepted by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to uniquely compose the sky atlas (the sky has been divided into 88 constellations in total), only one underwent an irreversible process of dissolution into four different constellations (Puppis, Vela, Carina, Pyxis), effectively erasing its traces: Argo Navis. The ship Argo carried Jason and the 50 Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece, a mythical and heroic quest of great importance in the ancient world.

Argo Navis, voices from a forgotten constellation is an interactive, site-specific art installation with a narrative focus that aims to bring this ancient and vast constellation back to the audience’s awareness, giving voice to the various parts of the Argo ship, now scattered across the sky like a shipwreck. It’s part of the Progetto Costellazioni
