For the second part of this anniversary (the first part was in March), Luca exhibits projects and works involving installations dedicated to constellations. “The Fires of the Sky” refers to an ancient legend that saw the stars as fires in a night camp. Luca likes to think of the planets orbiting the stars as people around a fire. Together they warm themselves, talk, and dream. The installations featured in this exhibition are:

    2013 COSTELLAZIONE TORO
IV Biennale of Montegemoli – M’Arte

This was the first experience with land art. The constellation Taurus and its brightest star, Aldebaran with the Pleiades, seem to be the oldest constellation observed by man since the Paleolithic period and known to many peoples of the world. So Luke reconstructed the constellation on the hill so that it was also visible from the sky for the “real constellation,” as a kind of mirror, a self-image in which to reflect himself as well as see himself. Perhaps reflecting and seeing himself. The same is true of the illumination of the stars which, on dark nights when the sky merges with the landscape, seems to extend the sky to our feet. The bull heads are a tribute to the origin of the project, a cycle of works dedicated to this animal figure.

    2015 ORION, THE GREAT HUNTER
    MateriaPrima artist’s residence, Ceppaiano

Orion was the first “walkable” constellation installation, made for an immersive experience by taking visitors to ‘walk’ along lines from one “star” to another and appreciate, imagine and dream about the transposition on the ground of this small piece of the sky. This installation (and the choice of the constellation Orion) is a tribute to Poggio al Casone, a land of vineyards that highlights the dualistic nature of wine, with its lights but also its darker sides, both inseparable parts of the concept of Zoe, indestructible and cyclical life, key concepts at the origin of the cult of Dionysus.

    2016       PEGASO, 10 STORIES FOR 10 STARS
    M’Arte solo show – Montegemoli

In 2016 Luca began a new approach with visitors to his land art installations, based on interactive devices he created and inserted into vintage phones. This “ancient” way of communication allows visitors to get closer to the stars, to listen to their “stories,” often funny, but all based on mythological tradition as well as the meaning of the names of the stars. Forgotten stories that are renewed for a better feeling with the starry sky and human knowledge. Symbols of communication between people and from distant places, the phones bring visitors “back to the object” and the function for which they were created. Through the use of electronic devices and sensors housed inside the phones, they come to life, ringing when visitors approach.

2016-2018 COSTELLAZIONI LARDERELLO / LIGHT ART
Geothermal Museum and Central 3, Larderello

For this site-specific light installation on the gallery façade, Serasini presented The Kháos of Cosmos, the Universe from another cosmological phase, which represents a “particular moment of waiting, full of power, of feeling, but also a moment of potential energy, ready to explode”. Disk-shaped stars are symbolically placed on the surface of the window, connected by lines to compose the primordial egg that anticipates the creation of the Universe. The installation invites the viewer not only to review what has been forgotten, but to reflect on that forgetfulness. Kháos from Cosmos occupied the gallery windows as the winner of the Window Project Winter 2017.
